An easy classic, this recipe for the raw chocolate date truffle is a total delight.

With just 3 main ingredients (plus a little fresh water), this is a fun and easy recipe for kids and the whole family to enjoy making, and eating -- especially during holiday time.

Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:

  1. 16 pitted medjool dates
  2. 1 and 1/4 cups of raw cacao powder
  3. 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  4. 2 tbsp water

Optional Ingredients

  • Your favorite chopped nuts
  • Shredded coconut

Directions:

  • Set aside 1/4 cup of cacao powder and do not add into the main mix (we will use this 1/4 cup of cacao for the final coating)
  • Put the pitted dates, about 1 cup of cacao and vanilla extract in a food processor and blend until creamy
  • Put this creamy mixture in a regular mixing bowl and chill in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours
  • By the teaspoonful, roll into a ball and then roll the ball in the extra cacao powder
  • At this point the raw chocolate date truffles are ready to eat
  • For an extra great treat, now roll the balls in chopped nuts
  • Another option is to put the nuts inside the mix  and roll in the cacao powder
  • If you’d like a delicious, festive snowball plate, roll these balls in shredded coconut

Have fun and enjoy this simple, easy, delicious, family-fun recipe!
